The Journey Tree is currently developing a range of holistic software - the first of which we are hoping to be available for the lead up to Christmas 2006.

Introduction

In a nutshell, the software is a tool for personal development, for self discovery and empowerment. The first release will simply be a secure and private environment for journaling and storing articles of interest and the main tool, other than the journal (which can be a powerful source of Self Knowledge) is a flexible and customisable divination program.

Before embarking upon this project we spent a lot of our time and energy in the visioning of how the software may evolve, and how it may be supported by further learning and human contact. We saw quite early on that the scope of the software was, and is, potentially huge and we have had to therefore start from the ground up and spend most of our initial efforts in creating the foundation, (the containing structure, of what is to come) in such a way that future developments may be more easily integrated.

We could of course have buckled and decided to create a simple gimmicky one-off program to get the money coming in. Despite our financial pressures and advice to pursue this easier path we have stood our ground in the hope of manifesting a work of true integrity.

The Tree & the Journey Journal

The core of the software is a 'windows explorer' style structure comprising of folders and files - this part of the software is known as 'The Tree'. Interestingly, in the programming world, these structures are also known as 'tree' structures and the nodes (folders and files) are referred to as branches and leaves. It is fitting therefore that this tree structure represents the core of the Journey Tree software. In keeping with this analogy, over time your 'tree' will grow branches and leaves, where each leaf represents a unique viewpoint, or perspective, of the world we live in.

One of the tree's branches is specifically set aside for storing entries in your Journey Journal. The journal stores rich text file entries that can be partially automated using templates. All journal entries can be categorised and can be searched by category, date or text. As well as your own entries, the journal can store divination reports created by the Journey Tree's divination tools and any other rich text documents generated by tools created for future upgrades.

Divination Tools & Glyphs

The divination tools section is based upon the widely used traditional divination by cards and tokens systems (tarot cards, rune stones etc). As well as being able to use the default card decks and spreads, it has been designed so that users can create their own decks and spreads and then share them with other users via our web server. Also, for those who would rather work away from the computer, we will also be printing a hard-copy deck of cards that can be used manually and then entered into the divination tool at a later date. The results (report) of a divination can be saved in your Journey Journal for later analysis or printed to paper.

Astro Planner

The Astro Planner still requires more development and will be available in 2007. However, the first release has been designed to link up with this tool when it is released.

The Astro Planner is a mini astrology/astronomy program which displays a range of solar and lunar information. It has been created in order to compliment the Journal and also to help us reconnect with, and develop our awareness of, the natural rhythms and cycles of life that we are all a part of. When analysing past entries in your journal, you may begin to see patterns and correspondences between these patterns and the cycles of the seasons and of the sun and the moon.

The planner is also a useful resource for planning future events and activities and for working more closely with the moon (lunation planning) etc.

Glyph tool

The 'Glyph' tool is an evolution of the divination software and facilitates graphical access of stored information, articles and multimedia. Glyphs (in many cases referred to as Medicine Wheels) are ancient systems that have assisted earth-wise people in the carrying, and accessing, of bodies of knowledge and wisdom for thousands of years. Like the Astro Planner it is in the development phase and will be available in 2007.
